Families throughout our Nation are facing tough economic times and are being forced to cut back. It is time for Congress to lead by example and get serious about bringing federal spending under control.

Members of Congress should start with their own salaries, which is why I introduced The Taking Responsibility for Congressional Pay Act, which will cut pay for members of the house and senate by five percent. This would be the first salary reduction for members in 77 years - I don't know anyone who has not had a reduction in pay in over 77 years!
